Biography:

Roman Abramovich was born in Saratov in 1966. Citizen of the Russian Federation. Has 5 children. Has higher education. Graduated from the Moscow State Law Academy. Lawyer by profession.

From January 1987 to January 1989 he worked as a mechanic in the SU-122 “Mosspetsmontazh” Trust; from January 1989 until May 1991 served as Chairman of the Yuyt Cooperative Society, and thereafter, until May 1993, as director of ABK Small Enterprise. From June 1993 to December 1995 served as Director of Petroltrans CJSC.

In 1996 he joined the Board of Directors of Sibirskaya Oil Company Ltd. (resigned during the election campaign to the State Duma of the Russian Federation).

In December 1999 he was elected Deputy to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the Chukotka Single-Candidate Election Okrug № 223 and in December 2001 became Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Has worked and lived in the CAO since then.

Working for the state, he is responsible for all matters within jurisdiction of a senior official and government of the Okrug, and is one of the initiators and authors of several projects such as:

  • The renewed system of state and municipal governing of the CAO.

  • Laws and other legal and normative acts, structures of state and municipal authorities of the Okrug, and Internal Management Plans for the Okrug executive body; and

  • The system of integration and recruitment of highly qualified specialists for state and municipal institutions.
