In 2005, the construction and equipment installation at the Anadyr gas-motor heat-power station which feeds from the West-Ozernoye gas field was completed. The use of natural gas as basic fuel will allow for the considerable improvement of the ecological situation in the Okrug by decreasing the level of emissions in the atmosphere during coal utilization. Hence the cost of power will drop, and reliability and quality of power supply will be higher.
Between 2002 and 2004, the “Construction of a 35 kW Power Line the Anadyr Thermoelectric Plant-the settlement of Ugolnye Kopi-the settlement of Kanchalan-Valunisty - the settlement of Egvekinot” project was under way in the Okrug. Launch of 200-kilometre-long “Egvekinot – Valunistyi” Power Line (110 KW) allowed full provision of the needs of the Valunisty deposits developer with power. A 90-kilometer-long 110 KW power line from Komsomolskiy settlement to Rytkuchi village was built in Chauskiy Region. All these projects make it possible to enable the unused capacities of Egvekinotskaya Town Regional Power Station Chaun-Bilibinsky energy unit and cut down the expenses for supply of diesel fuel.
A launch of a cable line laid from the Anadyr Thermoelectric Power Station along the estuary onto the left shore made it possible to keep the diesel power stations in reserve, drop the cost of expensive diesel fuel, and provide stable and high-quality power supply for the airport and Ugolnye Kopi village of the Okrug.
