Native language

Given conditions of the rapid de-ethnicism of Chukotka indigenous peoples, the objective of the preservation of native languages has become the priority.
Currently the teaching is carried out on the following native languages:
  • the Chukchee – in 31 schools,
  • the Eskimo – in 4 schools,
  • the Evenskee – in 3 schools.
Chukotka educational institutions employ 78 teachers of native languages.
Since 2003 a three-language book "Native Language" has been published. A teaching and methodic guide on musical education in a preschool, based of the experience of Rultyna G., and including the Chukotsky folklore “Yarakay” (children songs in the Chukchee) has been compiled and published. The publishing of a teaching and methodic set by Emelyanova N. is underway. The Russian-Chukchee dictionary by Leonov V., “Development of Speech on the Base of Regional Materials in Primary School” by Samoylovich A., a book "Kita, Mynuvichvet" by Morev V. have been published.
A guide on seal-fishery by Bogoslovskaya L. for Chukotka professional schools is being currently prepared for publishing.
