Additional rewards to supervising teachers
Recently the following decrees have been prepared and enacted by the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug:- Decree No. 8 of 01.24.2006 on “Establishing 2006 Rewards for Employees of Secondary Municipal Schools of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug for Working as Supervising Teachers”
- Decree No. 9 of 01.24.2006 on “Procedure of Subsidies Disbursements from the Okrug Budget to Local Budgets as Payment of Rewards to Supervising Teachers Employed by Municipal Secondary Schools”
- No. 38 of 02.27.2006 on “Amendments to the Government of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug Decree No. 8 of 01.24.2006”
In 2006 the total amount of payments to supervising teachers from the federal budget of CAO reached 3.792 mln rubles. Additional 1.832 mln rubles were disbursed from the Okrug budget.
Best teachers
Every year teachers whose pedagogic work was highly valued by the professional community, students and their parents may seek a reward of 100,000 rubles.Rewards are given on a contest basis; each region of Russia is subject to a certain quota, which limits the number of winners of the contest in each region. The quota for the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug is 6 people. The results of the contest held from May to August of 2006 will be published on the 1st of September, the date of reward pay offs to the best teachers of Chukotka. In 2006 3.072 million rubles will be disbursed for this purpose.
Informatization of education
11 of 48 municipal schools of Chukotka have an access to the Internet. The possibility of connecting remote schools of the Okrug to the Internet is being analyzed by the specialists of “Chukotkasvyazinform”.Last winter results of the monitoring of provision of educational institutions with computers, electronic educational resources and Internet connection were sent to the Federal Service of Communication Control and to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
In 2006 300,000 rubles for purchasing informational resources for schools will be disbursed from the Okrug.
Innovative schools
As of 2006:1. 10 secondary education institutions of Chukotka have approved development programmes;
2. 17 schools have their own governing bodies;
3. 8 schools are pilot-projects of the region;
4. 20 have created appropriate conditions for additional classes and out-of-class activity.
Thus, Okrug schools have met requirements of the contest, and eight of them have already applied for participation in it.
In 2006 2 mln rubles has been disbursed to the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug for its support of the winning schools. Additional 450,000 rubles will be added from the Okrug budget.
Support of gifted youths
In 2006 an Okrug Interschool Contest for students of years 7 through 9 studying in municipal schools and the Department of General Education, Chukotka Multiprofile, was held in Chukotka. Winners of the contest will be able to take part in the All-Russian Contest in English, Information Science and Literature.The budged of the Okrug has committed 180,000 rubles in grants to talented girls and boys, 130,000 rubles more than previously planned.
